It's a 2,000lb winch, and the 50 foot cable comes with a steel hook on the end. It'll easily pull the vehicle up hills and out of sticky situations, even with a load in the back (depending on how steep the hill, or how sticky the situation, sometimes the load has to be taken out of the dump bed).

The winch mounts neatly on the bumper. Power is provided by the vehicles electric system, and all the wiring and parts needed are included with the package. The winch activator switch can be located just about anywhere in the cab. Just cut a hole in the plastic dash with a Dremel tool and mount the switch within easy reach. It can also be bolted to one of the exposed frame members in the cab, thus eliminating the need for cutting the dash. However, cutting the dash is really easy and looks so much nicer...
